Every January, we all vow to exercise more often. Then, February rolls around, and we’re right back where we started — on the couch.
It’s tough to get motivated, but exercise is always worth the effort. When I’m struggling to get my butt off the coach, I try to remember why it’s so important and ultimately, so satisfying. These are my top reasons for working out:
Let’s face it: as busy moms and wives, we rarely get the opportunity to recharge, free of demands or complaints.
Exercise gives us a much-needed excuse to focus on ourselves.
As much as I love my kids and husband, I also love working out on my own.
Whether I listen to my favorite songs or exercise in blissful science, it’s the ultimate form of guilt-free me time.
It Keeps Me Happy
Runner’s high exists, but it’s not limited to running. Ample research indicates that regular exercise makes us happier.
Even a few minutes of activity can get those endorphins flowing. No matter how much stress I face on a typical day, I’ll feel better when I get my sweat on.
Setting a Healthy Example For My Children
I want my kids to be physically active. Unfortunately, in an age of smart phones and Netflix, they don’t always want to exercise. They’re certainly not going to listen to my imploring if they see me lounging around. If I exercise regularly, they’re more likely to follow suit.
Although I love exercising on my own, I also enjoying keeping active with my kids. Playground visits, nature walks, trips to the swimming pool…physical activity allows for some excellent bonding time, along with priceless memories.
It Boosts Natural Beauty
The right makeup and skincare products can hide flaws and bring out our best features…but healthy living creates the ultimate canvas.
The better my lifestyle, the better the end result when I apply makeup. Exercise improves circulation and reduces bloat.
Studies even suggest that physical activity amps up collagen, thereby fending off unwanted wrinkles.
Free Vacation to Costa Rica
As a SeneGence distributor, I have the opportunity to win a free vacation to Costa Rica. Nothing prompts a hardcore workout quite like the idea of hitting the beach in my swimsuit! When I travel abroad, I want to look and feel my best. If I put in the work ahead of time, I can relax when I arrive and feel confident in my own skin. It’s not all about looks though — I’ll have the opportunity to partake in all kinds of activities. I want to embrace these adventures, and I can’t make the most of the experience if I’m constantly winded.
With so many reasons to exericse, there really is no excuse to lead a sedentary life. I intend to exercise regularly not only as I prep for vacation, but also in months and years to come.
What gets you motivated? Develop a list of reasons why you exercise and keep it somewhere visible — it’ll make it that much easier to get moving when you feel lazy.
All that sweat will be worth it in the end — I promise!
